“Design for all Species” documents the international collaboration between veterinary researchers from the University of Zurich and emerging designers from Hongik University in Seoul. This transdisciplinary partnership resulted in playful, functional, and sustainable products for dogs and humans, which were showcased during the Zurich Design Weeks 2024.
Graphic designers Benoît Timothée Ebener and Guillaume Besson accompanied and documented the creative process. The resulting book, inspired by Armin Hofmann and chronophotography, uses scientific visualizations such as diagrams and zoom views to highlight the designs and their veterinary foundations.
"Design for all Species" was initiated by Dr. Katharina Weikl, head of the Art x Science Office UZH, and developed in collaboration with Prof. Antonio Pozzi and Dr. Brian Park (Vetsuisse Faculty UZH), as well as design students under the direction of Prof. Yeori Bae and Prof. Gilock Lee (Hongik University, Seoul).
The publication includes contributions from Prof. Dr. Antonio Pozzi and Dr. Brian Park, as well as Michelle Aimée Oesch, Seungha Baek, Sooin Cho, Joon Han, Nayeon Jeon, Yunseo Jeung, Heena Kim, Jiho Kim, Nayoung Kim, Zyoo Kim, Nyeongwoo Kwon, Chaewon Lee, Hanuk Lee, and Jungmin Park.
