Light in the context of contemporary scientific research

In this exhibition, art and science are riding the same wavelength. During the international year of light, the ETH and UZH present 14 research projects that explore the many aspects of the electro-magnetic spectrum.

A wide variety of research projects were launched: For example, physicists are using artificial crystals to design materials of the future. Biologists research the communication of plants and climatologists investigate whether the increase in soot and dust particles in the atmosphere lead to a global darkening.

Such research projects are difficult to visualize. We invited six Swiss photographers to take up the challenge and artistically realize the research work in consultation and collaboration with the scientists.

The exhibition was on display at the Photobastei, in Zurich, from November 5th to 15th, 2015.
